Summer 'Stangs Canoe Trip

Summer 'Stangs continued this week with a visit from Henry Hassman.  Henry is an avid canoeist with more than 50 years of experience in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.  Many stories were shared, along with tips on canoeing in international waters, food preservation, and gear needed for a safe trek.

While we don't plan to go to the BWCA this summer, we will have a trip to the Shetek State Park for canoeing, hiking, and grilling.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 14.  We will be meeting at Shetek State Park at 2pm.  There will be a small fee for canoe rental and you will need a State Park pass to enter, but there will be no other costs.  Attend any of our Tuesday Catholic 'Stangs activities, and mention you want to come, to get registered!

Parking Lot Update

As some of you may know, the parking lot at the Campus Religious Center has been deteriorating at an alarming rate.  The decision was made that we needed to make an investment in the parking lot to ensure we had a safe surface for our permit holders and visitors to park on.  Work started on May 19.  It is anticipated to take several weeks as they need to remove all of the materials to the base, and then rebuild it from the bottom up.

It is exciting to see the progress that has already been made.  For anyone interested in supporting the project, the cost of the parking lot itself is in excess of $120,000.  Additionally, the striping of the parking lot is another $2500.00.  Any donations can be mailed to the

Thank you for your interest in and support of the Campus Religious Center, supporting the faith needs, and beyond, of students at Southwest Minnesota State University since 1968.

Summer 'Stangs 2022

During the summer, Catholic Campus Ministries offers an opportunity we refer to as Summer 'Stangs.  It is an opportunity, once a week, to gather as community.  We share a meal and participate in a fun activity or a service project.  It helps keep our community connected during the break, as well as inviting new people to join us in a less structured format.

The costs for participation are minimal.  Most of our meals are completely free.  On a couple of rare occasions, we get subs to go or order pizza.  Participants pitch in for their share.  The same applies for any of the activities we participate in as well.  Many of them are free, outside of ride sharing.  Some, like the Bison Tour will have a minimal cost.  If anyone would like to participate, and cost is an issue, please let Becki know and she will help you work it out!

Our first Summer 'Stangs of the year has happened.  We cleaned Justice Park and did our summer planning.  There are a lot of interesting and exciting opportunities, and we hope to see you at them!

2021-2022 Year in Review

2021-2022 was certainly a year to remember!  Join us for a little walk down memory lane!

Baccalaureate 2022

On Friday, May 6th, we were able to celebrate the graduates of SMSU.  Four students from the Newman Club graduated.  It was so nice to have them, along with their families, here with us for the last time.

We were excited to see a number of students from Campus who chose to participate in the Baccalaureate Mass, even if they hadn't been regular attendees at our events.

We appreciate the ministries of our presider Father Tony Stubeda, concelebrant Father Paul Schumacher, lector Tom Wiliford and our musicians Chris and Amanda Sieling

Our special thanks to Elaina for decorating and Dave and Yvonne for cooking and serving.

Congratulations to all of the graduates.  May the Lord bless them and keep them as they go forth!

Year-End Worship Service

The academic year at the Campus Religious Center began as it started, with an ecumenical worship service.  Pastor Mike Mannisto and Father Tony Stubeda led our service.  Father Tony, along with Amy Bauer, also provided the music.

It was an opportunity to celebrate our year, recognize our graduates, and pray for our students as we sent them forth from our midst for the summer.  We wish them well in all their endeavors.  For those coming back, we are already looking forward to their return!

Year-End Grill Out

We celebrated the end of the academic year with a grill-out.  Burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips and beverages, along with some homemade goodies, were enjoyed by all.

Elaina, Moses and Nate continued to do a great job coordinating the event, welcoming the guests and making sure it all went according to schedule.  Well done!

A special "Thank you" to Dean and Doreen for their support of the event.  We couldn't have grilled it all without you!
